Session 6SDOs activity and collaboration in ICT security • Previous workshops have emphasized that security is only as good as the weakest link and that standards are an important facilitator for ICT security. • What are the critical, high priority ICT security gaps and areas where standardization can have a significant impact and the need is urgent? • What are various SDOs are doing in these high priority areas? Addressing security challenges on a global scale

Session 6SDOs activity and collaboration in ICT security • Faced with an ever-growing number of standards bodies and consortia, the CTOs called for immediate steps to modernize the standards landscape and its current diversity, and endorsed the need for a new approach, based on improved collaboration, cooperation and coordination, in an effort to improve the efficiency of standards work, reduce unnecessary duplicating and conflicting standards and promote an interoperable, seamless future global communications network. (CTO meeting, 29 October 2010) • What successful collaboration initiatives are in place among SDOs for ICT security standardization? • How can collaboration, cooperation and coordination be improved? • What are the most important opportunities going forward where collaboration would be helpful?
