In short: The Mayor is in charge of the preventive information and the safeguarding of its citizens The school must educate risks and ensure the safety of all students and staff So there is consistency between the objectives of local government and school Let’s see what we can be done out of this ascertainement..
And one remaining question : What can be done to attract the interest of citizens ?
Atschool, EDRR isrecognized as a topicof ESD; thismeans : Educate with a class/school concrete project Build a systemic approach ( pluridisplinarity) Think global, act local Establish partnerships
Memo’Risks : a methodology based on a partnership between the city-hall and the school, adapted to all risksand all territories : • The students are invited to : • Find out the memory of past local disasters • Inquire about the population’s level of information and preparation, The results will be given through a public meeting and the survey will be gratified in newspapers,tv or on local radios.

The criteria used by the jury will be: Quality of the testimonies collected, Relevance of the questions for the survey and sample size, Impact given by the city-hall and local medias. Winners will be the result of a successful partnership between the municipality and the school.
A contest that values all participants: • Winners will be invited to receive their awards atUNESCO Paris, • Testimonies will be published on a dedicated website, • All participating municipalities will be valued on the ISDR day,and become members of the "Making Cities Resilient" campaign,
A contest that will grow and last 3 school years : 2013/2014 -> Focus on the flooding risk 2014/2015 -> Involvment of outdoor activity centres
