WITH THE PISTOL HELD IN THE RAISED POSITION (MUZZLE POINTED SKYWARD), DEPRESS THE MAGAZINE RELEASE BUTTON AND REMOVE THE MAGAZINE FROM THE PISTOL. B. RETRACT THE SLIDE TO THE REAR AND VISUALLY INSPECT THE CHAMBER TO ENSURE IT IS EMPTY. C. LOCK THE SLIDE TO THE REAR AND VISUALLY INSPECT THE CHAMBER TO ENSURE IT IS EMPTY. D. DEPRESS THE SLIDE STOP ALLOWING THE SLIDE TO RETURN FULLY FORWARD. 2. PLACE SAFETY IN THE SAFE (DOWN)POSITION. 3. UNLOAD AN M9 MAGAZINE. A. HOLD THE MAGAZINE UPRIGHT WITH THE FRONT END FORWARD. B. (4) INSPECT AND REMOVE ANY OBSTRUCTION FROM THE CHAMBER. (5) LOAD THE PISTOL WITH NEW MAGAZINE OR AMMUNITION. (6) PLACE THE SAFETY ON FIRE, AIM, AND ATTEMPT TO FIRE.
