About Me • My background • I was born in Annapolis and grew up in Severna Park. • I went through the Anne Arundel County Public School system. • I received my Bachelors and Masters in Early Childhood Education from Towson University. • My experience • I’ve been teaching for 16 years. • This is my 8th year teaching kindergarten for Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
Classroom Goals • To give students the academic and social skills they need to progress to first grade. • To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment. • To help students make new friends and discover new interests.

Environmental Literacy • The Maryland environmental Education Program shall advance students' knowledge, confidence, skills, and motivation to make decisions and take actions that create and maintain an optimal relationship between themselves and the environment, and preserve and protect the unique natural resources of Maryland, particularly those of the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. • Theme: “Trees are Terrific” • Ten lessons: 6 at school, 4 at Camp Woodlands . Volunteers and Instructors will be needed.

Primary Talent Development • Implemented by classroom teacher • The PTD program provides opportunities for all students to develop and demonstrate advanced thinking behaviors. • It is designed to provide children with open-ended, hands-on, science-based experiences that encourage a wide range of behavioral responses.
Chick-fil-a Core Essentials • Core Essentials is a values education program designed for grades K-5 that helps schools create a culture of lasting values among students, faculty and staff, families and even the community. • There are different values for each month.
Classroom Community • Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other. • Our class rules are: • Listen to the teacher • Follow directions • Raise your hand • Keep your hands and feet to yourself • Walk in school • Use inside voices

Catch the Homework Bug • Please complete all homework in the black and white composition book. • Homework is turned in every Friday. • Please sign at the end of the month • Use High Frequency Words Suggested Activity List to complete the High Frequency Words section of the homework calendar. • Additional homework may be sent home throughout the year.

Final Thoughts • Report Cards/Conferences- twice a year • Class Schedule found on website • Volunteers welcome starting in October • Snack policy- Store-bought products are strongly encouraged due to student allergies • Clothing- change of clothes, light jacket • Water Bottles- Sport top/ water only
