  3. Blackberry • Common plant with berries. • Thorned.

  4. Forest fire. • Pretend a forest fire happened in this forest. • All trees and plants burnt down and all animals dispersed from a ten mile radius.

  5. Primary succession • Now that the trees are gone lower lying plants such as blackberry bushes can get more light and therefore are more numerous.

  6. Secondary succession • Now that there are more berries more herbivorous/omnivorous birds such as Stellar’s Jay will go to that area to forage for food.
