Co-Chairs: Wendy Fransen & Carla Roby • Crossroads is a corporate sponsored community beautification project in which local businesses are asked to “adopt” a key intersection and to “clean it up” and “spruce it up.” • Three intersections which have been identified include: • Interstate 29 & Highway 212 • Highways 212 & 81 • Highway 20 & Airport Entryway M. Hockenberry MeyerDepartment of Horticultural Science, University of Minnesota Master Gardeners The SDSU Extension Master Gardener Program provides university training to volunteers to prepare them to serve their communities through horticulture extension activities. Volunteers answer questions at their local extension offices or other venues, speak to local groups, assist with demonstration gardens, assist with youth projects, write newsletters or newspaper articles, and/or a wide variety of other projects that help to increase the horticulture knowledge of the public. Over the past ten years, MG volunteers have contributed over 80,000 hours of service in South Dakota. Timeframe For Implementation: 2014-Clean Up & 2015 Spruce Up

Co-Chairs: Tim Toomey & Jill Makepeace “The Watertown Police Department has recently invested in new cameras and lighting in the Uptown area in an attempt to cut down on crimes, particularly assaults in the evening hours. Efforts to map crimes throughout the City and work with business owners and residential associations to identify other potential “hot spots” potentially in need of increased lighting and/or cameras could provide useful in combating crimes in other parts of the the city. Increased lighting not only impacts public safety but also impacts economic vitality as improved lighting and a sense of personal safety may increase the likelihood that some residents will utilize public spaces and frequent private establishments at nighttime.” Market Street In partnership with the WPD

Uptown Watertown is the heart of our community. Our alleyways are the arteries which carry the lifeblood of Uptown to every portion of our community. Across America, from metropolitan to rural communities, people are taking notice of their alleyways. People are finding themselves immersed in the hidden world of alleys. There, communities are finding endless possibilities. There’s potential and opportunities for us to take stake and ownership in our forgotten spaces that need to be addressed, remembered and loved.UpMyAlley is an opportunity to make a difference! Such issues included potholes, sidewalk maintenance, curb cuts inhibiting wheelchair use, and properties that are an eyesore and/or in violation of city codes. Development of a website and mobile application that provides residents with the opportunity to report problems needing attention have proven successful in other communities by expediting city response to complaints while improving transparency by providing updates to each reported incident on the website and mobile application.” Market Street You may use this form below to report an issue involving the City of Watertown. Co-Chairs: Greg Blow, Jeff & Annette Gamber, & Roger Turbak “A new public park could be developed on a currently underutilized parcel of land in the Uptown area, providing a location for families in the surrounding residential areas, employees and patrons of Uptown businesses, and visitors to the area to gather year-round. A public park could have a variety of features from playgrounds and picnic tables to a small amphitheater or outdoor skating rink.” Market Street Timeframe for Implementation: 2016
