Attendance continued • Unexcused absence: • Failure to start/register on time • Truancy • Missing the bus/ride • Suspension (make up work provided) • Unauthorized trips • Birthdays/celebrations • No written excuse in 3 days • Bring excuse for checkouts
Exemption • Being here is important because.. • 11th graders can be exempt • If… • A average/2 absences • B average/1 absence • C/no absence • all absences count except field trips • Forfeit this right if.. • Suspended • Skipped • ATS • ECAP
Dress Code/School Violations • Do not wear in the building: • Hats • Sunglasses • Follow the Dress Code at all times! • Cell Phones can not be used or seen during school hours
New Cell Phone Policy • 1st offense – parent contact – phone held 2 school days – parent must retrieve phone • 2nd offense – parent contact – school designated action or 1 day detention – phone held 5 school days- parent must retrieve phone • 3rd offense and all subsequent offenses – parent contact – school designated action or 3 days detention – phone held 10 school days – parent must retrieve phone
Forms • You and your parent must sign the signature page acknowledging your acceptance of the code of conduct • Must return by Friday • Technology form – cannot use school computers unless it is returned • Textbook form

E. Grading Plan • Progress Reports every 4 weeks • Test – 20% • Quizzes – 20% • Notebook – 10% • class/homework – 50%
Entering the Class • Come in quietly • Take out supplies, sharpen pencils, etc • Complete either the posted bellringer or continue working on the anchor activities for the week
Dismissal at the end of class • Continue working until given permission to stop • Remain in assigned seat • Sit quietly • The bell does not dismiss the class …I do • Wait for my cheery dismissal!
Returning to class after an absence • 3 days to make up work • The weekly assignments are located on the board by the door • Handouts can be found in the folders • Write your name on the calendar when you will come in to make up work • You can only make up work before or after school
Arriving to class tardy • If you have a note from a teacher place it on my desk • If your tardy is unexcused you will sign the tardy form: • 1st tardy – warning • 2nd tardy – note/call home • 3rd tardy - ATS
Quieting the class • Please watch and listen for the call to order
Asking for help • Please raise your hand if you have a question • No yell outs – it disrupts others
Moving of students • Do not sharpen pencils, or move about the room while I or a classmate is talking
Keeping a student notebook • Notes & assignments will be worth points. • I will record them. • Points will be added together at the end of each chapter. • Don’t throw away notebook assignments! • Copy assignments onto the log. • Number all assignments!
Grading Notebook for Organization • Are the pages there? • Are the pages in the correct order? • Is the assignment log completed? • The organizational NB grade will be peer reviewed. • If your notebook is not ready to be graded on the day that it is due you will receive a zero.
Location, Location, Location • Check the folder located “no name” to find papers with no name • Check the folder labeled “assignment log” to ensure that you have all of the notebook assignments
Homework Policy • Homework due at the beginning of class the next day • half credit – after all call/next day • Copying – O for the copier and “copyee” • Parents will be notified • Indications of cheating – exact same wrong answers/wording, same misspelled words
Hall Passes • 3 hall passes each week • Do not ask to go anywhere in the first five minutes • Write out your own pass & I’ll sign • Return pass to me
Collecting or returning work • All assignments should be turned in to the green basket found in front of the whiteboard • Notebook assignments will be returned to you – place them back into your notebook IN ORDER • Quizzes, tests and daily assignments will be placed in a folder that remains in the classroom
Heading your paper • Top right hand corner • First and last name • Date – month/date/year • Assignment title
Paschal Pet Peeves • 1. Texting! • 2. Sitting on the desk tops or at my podium! • 3. Eating and drinking in class!
Textbooks will be taken to lost and found if left in the classroom. Take them with you everyday!
All food and drink must be thrown away or put in book bag!
G. Emergency Procedures • Signed pass to see nurse • severe weather – in the hall (book/coat) • Have a seat • Be quiet • Wait for instructions • Fire – east parking lot • Lockdown – remain in room, quiet, no lights, out of view of door window
H. Weekly/Daily Tentative schedule • Bell work • Preview/Review • Notes/Lecture • Enrichment activity/assignment • Recap • Complete the next chapter’s vocabulary after test • Vocabulary quiz taken the day before the test • I will try to stick to this as much as possible, however holidays and assemblies will sometimes change this.
1st notebook assignment! • Take syllabus notes home review with parent, you sign & parent sign • Worth 25 points
Unit Page Directions • On a piece of notebook paper • Write the name of the unit • Write the name of the chapters in the unit • Find and draw a picture in the unit
Vocabulary • Complete the vocabulary (blue) for the whole chapter (3 sections.)
