  1. Prepositions: Prepositions are extremely important; they help us understand how objects relate to each other in space and time. Happy Monday……please COPY the following in the GRAMMAR portion of your WNB DO: Create ONE sentence that uses ANY TWO of the prepositions from above.

  2. Please take out the BRAINSTORMING sheet you were given before break. Part 2: The +/- Chart Create a chart (see examples) that graphs the highs and lows from your brainstorming sheet • Choose 10-15 events (total) to graph • Draw pictures on your graph for at least 8 of the charted memories

  8. Memoir Free-Write Please have out the following: 1. +/- Chart 2. Hand or Foot 3. Pen/cil 4. Lined paper Choose THREE things from your brainstorming activities Fold your piece of lined paper into 1/3 (hot dog style) Put your THREE chosen things across the top as the “header” for each space

  9. Memoir Free-Write For the next 3 minutes, list things in the first column of your paper that you remember/associate with the event EX: smells, colors, sounds, tastes, textures, dates, people, location, etc.

  12. Memoir Free-Write Read through what you wrote and decide which ONE you could turn into a memoir or personal narrative Flip your paper over and do the following: A. Create a SIMILE you can use in your paper. B. Create an example of PERSONIFICATION you can use in your paper. C. Create an ALLUSION, a METAPHOR or HYPERBOLE that you can use in your paper. 3. Make sure your name is on your paper & turn-in Simile: Comparison using like or as Metaphor: direct comparison Personification: gives human qualities Allusion: reference to well-known Hyperbole: over exaggeration

  17. Creating Your Memoir Begin your ROUGH DRAFT now: A. Create an OUTLINE B. WRITE your lead paragraph (intro) Have it initialed where you left off at the end of the hour. You will have some time to work on your rough draft after your Non-fiction test tomorrow.

  18. Thursday: Test day! • Have out the following: 1. your notebook 2. your rough draft of your memoir 3. pen/cil • When you finish your test, complete your work on your rough draft. • Rough drafts are due Friday & are worth 25 points
