VSBA Mission Statement Virginia School Boards Association, a voluntary, nonpartisan organization of Virginia school boards, promotes excellence in public education through advocacy, training and services. VSBA Vision Statement VSBA is recognized and respected as an innovative leader in public education.

VSBA Goals! • To ensure the active participation of the 100% of the boards in VSBA governance, leadership, training and services. • To develop and implement a proactive, child-focused, coordinated communications plan. • To provide new opportunities and increase participation in high quality programs and services. • To advocate effectively for Virginia’s public schools and children before all levels of government and the public.

  13. NSBA WHO IS NSBA? • Founded in 1940, NSBA represents its State Association members and their more than 90,000 local school board members, virtually all of whom are elected. These local officials govern 13,809 local school districts serving the nation's 50 million public school students.

NSBA Services In addition to services to 49 member state school board associations, NSBA offers these services directly to school boards: • Publications like “American School Board Journal” • Annual Conference of more than 7,000 board members • Advocacy through a federal relations network • Opportunity to become an NSBA Affiliate to receive discounts and webinars • Research through the Center for Public Education • Online “Best Practices” from across the country • For more information and ideas, go to www.nsba.org
