  5. “ENTREPREUNERSHIP COURSES IN TBILISI STATE UNIVERSITY” The Programme’s history • UoP responded to Hellenic Aid’s Call for proposals 2006 • Georgia: Priority Country for Development Cooperation • Higher Education: Priority area for Development Cooperation. • Tbilisi State University: The partner • The programme was approved in November 2006

  6. “ENTREPREUNERSHIP COURSES IN TBILISI STATE UNIVERSITY” The programme’s objectives • Initiate cooperation between TSU and UoP in an area of priority and of potentially high contribution to development • Transfer of experience through customized educational material on entrepreneurship and training methods • Create conditions supporting sustainability • Set the foundations for future cooperation schemes • Contribute to the strengthening of academic links and transnational relations (cultural, academic, economic)

  7. “ENTREPREUNERSHIP COURSES IN TBILISI STATE UNIVERSITY” Training activities in TSU (in three phases) • TSU local partners will undertake to select students for participation in the training activities of the programme. • UoP trainers will visit Tbilisi and will deliver lectures to groups of undergraduate and postgraduate students. • TSU educators will themselves undertake teaching during in between training activities phases. • Lectures will be delivered in English.

  8. “ENTREPREUNERSHIP COURSES IN TBILISI STATE UNIVERSITY” Activity 8 Distance training activity • Preparation of a dedicated website (provisional name: www.unipi.gr/entrepreneurship-georgia) for information dissemination and uploading of educational material. • The site will be accessible to both students and staff for downloading educational material and other material related to entrepreneurship education in Greece, Georgia and other countries.

Training Phase A • 7 May 2007 • Prof. Joseph Hassid Who are your instructors Joseph Hassid is Professor of Industrial Economics at the University of Piraeus and Chairman of the University’s Department of Economics. He has also taught at the University of Manchester (UK), the Economics University of Athens and, as visiting scholar at other European Universities as well as in Russia, Romania and Bulgaria. His research interests cover, among other, foreign investment issues, the economics of small firms, entrepreneurship and human resources development. In the University of Piraeus he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on the subject of the Economics of Entrepreneurship and Policy. Nikos Skoulas has held senior management positions in Canada and in Greece, in the fields of food distribution, franchising, media, tourism and hospitality, both in Government service and the private sector. For a substantial period he served the Government of Greece, as Secretary General of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT), Alternate Minister of National Economy and Minister of Tourism. He has authored several books in Small Business and Human Resource Management. He is currently the President of TRINITY International School of Tourism Management, an English speaking institution of higher learning specializing in Tourism and Hospitality. Alexis Komselis holds an MSc in Entrepreneurship from the University of Aberdeen and is a PhD candidate at the Aberdeen Business School in Scotland. His research interests include entrepreneurship and family businesses. He works as a consultant for new businesses, small and medium enterprises, and family businesses. He also teaches business, management and family business strategy.
