  3. A little background on terminology Both socialism and Marxism embraces numerous spheres of our life, that there are no single definition encapsulating all of their meaning. However, let us try to crystallize some of their ideas in economics and politics.

  4. Marxism Is economic and sociopolitical analysis that was based upon: - materialist interpretation of history - critique of the development of capitalism - dialectical view of social change

  5. Socialism • Economic system characterized by social ownership or control of the means of production and cooperative management of the economy  • Also, it is specific historical phase of economic development in the schema of historical materialism, that eventually supersede capitalism.

  6. Global consequences • Bolshevik Revolution (Vladimir Lenin) • Cuban Revolution (Fidel Castro) • Cultural Revolution (Mao Zedong)
