The synthetic polymers are usually prepared by FRP pipes manufacturers using polycondensation, polymerization or polyaddition. The manufacturers combine the polymers with several agents or alter the properties of polymers to make plastic. The composite plastics made by the process can be of homogeneous or heterogeneous mix. Composite plastics are the types of plastics made from combining two or multiple homogeneous materials with distinct material properties to create a final product with specific required material and mechanical properties. FRP is the category of composite plastics that is initially used for fiber materials (not mix with polymer) to mechanically enhances the elasticity and strength of plastics. Genuine plastic material without fiber reinforcement is called as matrix. Matrix is tough but weak plastic and after reinforcement, its strength gets enhanced. There are mechanical properties of the matrix and fiber that determine the strength and elasticity of the matrix material. Polymers are different materials due to their macromolecular nature. Their covalent bonding, long chain structure makes them macromolecules. Polymers are small linking molecules used for making larger molecules. Polymerization process needs that each small molecule has minimum two reaction points or functional groups. Manufacturers generally categorize the process in two types- one is condensation polymerization and other is addition polymerization. In condensation type polymerization,
chain growth is accompanied by elimination of small molecules like CH3Oh, and H2O. In Addition type polymerization, polymer is created without any loss of other materials. There are three types of polymer chains- Linear polymer chain Branched polymer chain Cross linked polymer chain If one monomer is polymerized, the product formed with it is known as homopolymer. The polymerization of two monomers blend having suitable reactivity will result in formation of a copolymer. If chains of one homopolymer join to chains of another, it forms another product named as a block or graft copolymer. Composites are any materials made of multiple components. You will find lots of composites around you. Concrete is an instance, which is made of gravel, cement, and sand and often includes steel rods inside to reinforce it. Those shimmering balloons you see at party are made of composite, which has an aluminum foil sheet and polyester sheet, made into a sandwich. The polymer composites are made from polymers along with other types of materials. But the fiber-reinforced composites are different materials in which a fiber is made of single material and is embedded in another material. Fiberglass is a group of products made from individual glass fibers that are combined into several forms. Glass fibers can be segregated into two groups- continuous fibers and discontinuous fibers. Continuous fibers are used in yarns and textiles, while discontinuous fibers used in blankets, bats, or boards for filtration and insulation. FRP or fiberglass reinforced plastic is used by FRP pipes manufacturers to produce distinct sizes of FRP piping solutions for industries like agriculture, pumping, chemical, etc. To know more about FRP pipes, contact manufacturers today.
