Fees School fees are $25. This money should be paid as soon as possible. Please send this money to the classroom in a sealed envelope. Do not pay in the office. This money goes partially to the school and the other part towards the student’s classroom for school supplies. Teacher’s only get $100 each year on school supplies and needed items for the classroom. The rest comes from his/her own pocket. This money helps teachers not have to spend as much from their own pocket.
Lunch Money If your child is receiving a lunch from the lunchroom, please send lunch money in an envelope or sandwich bag with the amount of money, student’s name, teacher’s name, and lunch number (I will send this home as soon as I find out). Breakfast- $1.25 Lunch- $2.35
Attendance and Tardies
Attendance It is very important that your child be at school every day unless he/she is sick. If your child is absent for a whole or partial day, you should send a note to school on the day that your child returns to school. These notes must be kept on file in the office. If the child brings no note to school, the absence is unexcused—even if you called in. Students will only be allowed 3 parent notes each semester. After three parent notes, a doctor’s note will be required. Notes must be turned in within 2 days of the child’s return to school. If a student has five unexcused absences, the parent will be required to attend a Truancy Board meeting at the Lincoln County Courthouse. State law established these attendance policies and requires that they be enforced strictly, so PLEASE don’t forget these notes!
Tardies “Tardies” are when a child is late or when he/she checks out early. If your child accumulates ten unexcused tardies, he/she will receive a note from the truancy board. Ten unexcused tardies result in a truancy board meeting. Again, please don’t forget the notes!!!!!!!!!!!
Birthdays We are not allowed to have parties for birthdays during school. However, I am making an acception to birthday cookies/cupcakes. These items must be store bought items. You may send them with your student on the day of their birthday. These items will be passed out at the end of the day during our writing time.
Parties We are allowed to have two seasonal parties: Christmas and Easter. We will have some fun activities and a special snack for Halloween and Valentines, but no party.

Change of Transportation If your child is going home a different way than you specified on the yellow sheet, please send a written note on where he/she is going (address with person’s name and phone number). You will also need to call up to the school to ensure the note made it to the office. Also, please put your number on the bottom of the note in case the office needs to call and verify anything.

GO Math! • Standards based curriculum that was developed to to enhance mathematical understanding using models and formulas to solve real world problems. • Teaches students multiple ways to solve problems.
CKLA • Common Knowledge Language Arts • Split into 2 parts: “Skills” and “Listening and Learning” • Skills- This section involves reading and writing. We learn how to segment (spell) and blend (read) words by their sounds. First we teach how each letter sounds, then we will move to the name of the letter. • Listening and Learning- This section involves read alouds, class discussion, different activities, and broadening their vocabulary. It also integrates science and social studies (plants, native americans, seasons, presidents, 5 senses, Christopher Columbus, weather, pilgrims, plus more!) • www.coreknowledge.org then click on “Curriculum” then “Language Arts”
CKLA Homework I will be sending home nightly items for your child in their yellow folder. This does not have to be returned to me, BUT I highly encourage you to have your child review this work. In the end, it will pay off. It covers what we learned that day and helps keep you in the loop with his/her education. Remember to check your child’s yellow folder nightly for this work. Also on the newsletter your child will receive, you will see vocabulary words. Please review these because at the end of the unit, your child will need to know what the words mean.
Please help reinforce your student’s learning by asking what they have learned each day! This will help you see how much we learn each and every day!
