He popularized computers, also making them easy to use. He developed products that have redefined computers. Most importantly, I think he created the real image of the modern computer. 2

  3. Steve Jobs- History • 1955: Enrolls at Reeds University. Drops out after first semester. • 1976: Steve Jobs pairs with Steve Wozniak to form Apple Computer. Apple 1 is released. • 1982: Sales reach $1 billion a year. • 1985: Resigns and forms NeXT Computers. • 1994: Apple introduces Macintosh. • 1997: Jobs returns to Apple. • 2011: Steve Jobs retires. Dies October 5th. 3

Drops out in second year. • 1977: Gates and Paul Allen create Microsoft. • 1978: Year-end sales over $1 million. • 1987: Youngest billionaire ever. • 1994: Starts giving to charity under the William H. Gates foundation- name after father. • 2007: Officially “graduates” from Harvard. • 2008: Retires from Microsoft but remains as a advisor.

  5. Steve Jobs-Company • Apple: • Started by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976. • The company is now worth the most, more than Intel and Microsoft combined. • Most admired company of the world from 2008 to 2012. 5

  6. Steve Jobs-Products • Products: • iMac- Desktop computer. • MacBook- laptops. • Mac OS X- Operating system. • iPod- Music Player. • iPhone- one of the first smart phone created. • iTunes- Music store. 6

  7. Bill Gates- Company • Microsoft: • Formed in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. • Created most used computer operating systems. • 2007: Made $51.2 Billion dollars. • First big job: asked to make operating system for IBM.

  8. Bill Gates- Products • Products: • Windows OS- Most used OS: From Windows 1 to Windows 8. • XBOX 360- popular gaming system. • Skype- Face to face chat system. • Windows Phone- smart phone. • Microsoft Office- popular work program.

  9. Bill Gates- Impact • Popularized Computers and the internet. • Has made routine jobs easier by applying them to computers to allow quicker finish. • Sped up the computer age to a fast development. • Created the most widely used operating system in the world. 9

  10. Steve Jobs- Impact • Brought computers to Man. Made it usable by all people. • Popularized products such as the music player (iPod) the tablet (iPad) and the smartphone (iPhone). • Developed products that redefined work and entertainment. • Envisioned the modern computer as it is today. 10

  11. Thesis- Steve Jobs • I believe that Steve Jobs was the most influential man to the computing world. He popularized computers, also making them easy to use. He developed products that have redefined computers. Most importantly, I think he created the real image of the modern computer.
