  1. About Fighting Diabetes Fightdiabetes.com is a comprehensive website about diabetes. The mission of fightdiabetes.com is to inform, educate, discuss, guide you regarding diabetes and connect you to the community online.

  2. Researchers from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Karolinska Institutet have found that gestational diabetes raises the risk of postpartum depression (PPD) in first-time mothers. This is the largest study of its kind to date, including more than 700,000 women. The results were published online on 1/18/17   in the journal Depression and Anxiety. The researchers also established that women with a history of depression are more than 20 times more likely to experience PPD than mothers without a previous clinical diagnosis of depression. And while gestational diabetes alone increased risk for PPD, a history of maternal depression in conjunction with gestational diabetes further increased the likelihood of PPD.

  3. If you are a diabetic it goes without saying that you need to be very careful about not just what you eat, but also what you drink! Pick the wrong type of drink, and your sugar levels will spike in no time!!! Beverages will sneak in those extra sugars and carbs that you need to monitor when on a diabetic diet. Fret not, for help is at hand! Today, we will share with you a list of beverages for a diabetic that you can guzzle down with confidence and some that you rather pour down the sink!! Before we get started, here are some basics you must know. The human body is made up of close to two-thirds water, so it is important that you drink enough water to stay healthy and hydrated. Do tea, coffee, milk, juices and smoothies count? Yes, they do. In fact, we also get fluids from the food we consume, especially from veggies and fruits.

  4. Type 1 diabetes is characterized by the destruction of pancreatic β cells. Replacing β cell mass by pancreatic islet transplantation has been shown to be curative in principle but is limited by the availability of donor cells, immunological complications, and transplant survival. More ideal approach would be generating new insulin-producing cells from other cell types in the body of a person with type 1 diabetes.
