IEEE P802.22.1 Advanced Beaconing Original Schedule and Timelines • Some Delays in this Project for the following reasons • FCC has issued the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for the 3.5 GHz Band (3550 – 3700 MHz) for operation adjacent to the Radar Operational Bands • The current co-existence mechanism defined in the NPRM for spectrum sharing with Radars is Spectrum Sensing. FCC is still working to create the requirements for the Spectrum Sensor • Creating a specification for the Advanced Beacon for Radar and Communications Spectrum Sharing requires close work with the United States Department of Defense.
