Nova Counselor • Nova Counselor Qualifications • Parents or adult leaders providing guidance • Minimal STEM knowledge required • Similar to an adventure award or merit badge • Position code 58 required (no fee) BSA STEM/Nova

Nova Award Requirements • Watch and/or read content for 3 hours total (1 hour for Cubs/Webelos) • Complete one Adventure/Merit Badge/Exploration from a list • Different one for each Nova Award • Scientific Exploration • Activities and/or create something • Visit a place where the STEM area is in practice • Discuss with Counselor how the STEM area affects everyday life BSA STEM/Nova
Supernova Awards • Super = more rigorous! • Intent: • motivate youth in STEM-related activities/careers • recognize advanced achievements BSA STEM/Nova
Supernova Mentor • Supernova Mentor Qualifications • Requires deeper technical knowledge • Ideally in a STEM career or subject matter expert • Willing to share wisdom and experience • Provide input and guidance to Supernova candidate • Prior Mentor application • Position code 52 (no fee) • Council approval BSA STEM/Nova
