BACKGROUND Rain fed farming: Cotton, Soyabean, Tur Lack of In Situ water Conservation and WHS Over utilization of chemicals i.e. fertilizers, pesticides etc. Low Productivity: Poor Cultivation Practices Indebtedness & increase in production cost Low Crop Produce Holding Capacity: Distress Sale Lack of MarketInfrastructure & information Market vagaries & risks No Industrial Growth Higher proportion of distressed households & Farmer suicides
IS “TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF RESILIENT, SUSTAINABLE AND DIVERSIFIED, ON-FARM AND OFF-FARM LIVELIHOODS TO HOUSEHOLDS, ENABLE THEM TO FACE PRODUCTION AND MARKET RISKS WITHOUT FALLING INTO POVERTY AND DISTRESS.” GOAL AND OBJECTIVES • IMPROVE HOUSEHOLDD INCOMES FROM DIVERSIFIED FARMING AND OFF-FARM ACTIVITIES. • SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE THE INTRODUCTION OF ORGANIC AND LOW INPUT (LEISA) CONTRACT FARMING. • FACILITATE THE INVOLVEMENT OF FARMERS’ GROUPS IN PRIMARY PROCESSING, QUALITY ENHANCEMENT AND MARKETING. • EMPOWER WOMEN THROUGH MICRO-FINANCE AND MICRO-ENTERPRISES. • ACHIEVE CONVERGENCE OF GOVERNMENT PROGRAMMES AND RESOURCES.

SELECTION OF VILLAGES WITH PREDOMINANT BPL HOUSEHOLDS. • SELECTION OF TARGET GROUP HOUSEHOLDS WITHIN THESE VILLAGES WEALTH RANKING. • LIST OF SELECTED HOUSEHOLDS VALIDATED BY GRAM SABHA. TARGETING IN LINE WITH IFAD MANDATE
THE PROJECT IS IN LINE WITH THE POLICIES OF IFAD, SRTT AND GOM: THAT IS • SUPPORT TO LOW EXTERNAL INPUT SUSTAINABLE RAINFED AGRICULTURE. • PRODUCTION OF ON-FARM BIO-INPUTS • TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY THROUGH NGOs AND PRIVATE SECTOR. • RESPOND TO TECHNOLOGIES DEMANDED BY FARMERS. PROGRAMME RATIONALE
PROGRAMME OUTPUTS • 286,800 HOUSEHOLDS INCLUDING 196,800 LANDHOLDING HOUSEHOLDS ARE TARGETED. • 403,200 HA AREA ARE TREATED WITH INSITU WATER CONSERVATION. • 3600 WHS ARE CONSRUCTED; 3 IN EACH VILLAGE. • 1200 WATERSHED VOLUNTEERS WORK FOR THE PROGRAMME. • 1200 FFS ARE ORGANISED INVOLVING 4,800 JLG • 20,000 HOUSEHOLDS ENGAGE IN AGRI-BASED AND LIVESTOCK-BASED ENTERPRISES. • 120 AGRI-BUSINESS CLUSTERS ESTABLISHED. • 120 PRODUCER COMPANIES SET UP AND TRAINED. • 9,000 SHG ORGANISED AND STRENGTHENED AND LINKED TO BANKS • 158,400 DISTRESSED HOUSEHOLDS COUNSELLED WITH THE HELP OF 270 SAHAYOGINIS UNDER 45 CMRCs.
PROGRAMME IMPACTS… • HOUSEHOLD INCOMES INCREASE BY 50% • RAINFED CROP PRODUCTIVITY INCREASES BY 11%. • PRODUCTION COSTS DECREASE BY 25 TO 30%. • MORE TRANSPARENT CONTRACT DEEDS NEGOTIATED. • SIZEABLE NUMBER OF HOUSEHOLDS STAY AWAY FROM EXPENSIVE INFORMAL SOURCES OF CREDIT. • VDCs AND WATERSHED VOLUNTEERS GET FAMILIAR WITH THE PREPARATION OF VILLAGE PLANS FOR DRAWING FUNDS FROM NREGA. • EQUITABLE AND NON-EXPLOITATIVE MARKETING FACILITATED. • MARKET-LINKED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS NEGOTIATED. • VALUE-CHAINS ARE ESTABLISHED FOR SELECTED, MARKET-DEMAND COMMODITIES. • CONVERGENCE IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR ENSURED.
