The Toolbar • Go to ‘school number.nycdoe.org’ When I login I see: What are these parts of the toolbar about?
The Inbox • What do you know from this inbox?
Opening a message • Click on the subject to open the email. • Next Step: Which should you choose?
Try It! Login to eChalk. What is in your inbox? Reply to the message in your inbox. What do you see on: • the To: line? • the Subject: line? • the body of the email Send it!
Write a New Message Go to Write Mail Fill in the To line. • Think about: • Is there anyone I need to Cc? Bcc? • What makes a good Subject line? • Did I spell check it? • Is the message urgent?
Getting Started • We will take the next 20 minutes to practice sending and replying to email. • Then we will come back together and share. • Get the email addresses of 2 students sitting near you.
Practice & Discover Some More Features So far this year, what tech support have you given your teachers? • Step 1 Answer that question in an email. Send it to someone sitting near you. Cc someone else. Before you send it, use the Rich Text Editor to change the font and appearance of the message. • Step 2 Read the message you receive and forward it to someone else in the room. Use the Find Members feature to look up his/ her email address. Mark the message urgent. • Step 3 Delete a message.
