Initial Low Dike building on roadway • Long rolls of heavy duty poly laid down along roadway on the side the water is coming from • Use cement truck full of sand to run the course and lay a 1 – 2 foot “bead” of sand the length of the poly • Fold poly up and over on both sides • Place regular sandbags every two feet to keep poly sealed

  5. Initial Dike complete, pumping begins and a rainbow gives us hope Nanaimo Fire Services Presentation June 2010

  6. Developing a more secure dike to get us through the winter

  7. Filling the gaps – to save time, just fold under the tops of the sandbags
