  1. How to Set Up a Wiki Department, Team, Family, Sports, Friends, Church Group, Classmates, etc.

  2. Go to http://pbworks.com/ and click the green “Get Started” button.

  3. Click “Educational” for a teacher/class page or “Personal” for a department, team, family, etc.

  4. The top of the next page will offer you a free trial. Don’t do it. Click “Free setup in 60 seconds.” You won’t have to pay anything ever.

  5. “Choose a Plan” Basic is free.

  6. Choose a title/address that is easy for your users to remember. GranthamEnglish like “name of school followed by name of department”

  7. Choose “individuals,” “education,” or “business” and then a purpose. “Purpose” is requested because templates are already set up for different groups, but all “purpose” templates can be edited, added, or deleted.

  8. Determine who should be able to view and edit the page. Do you want students or teachers at other buildings to be able to view it? Just your team, department, family? For editing rights, I would choose “Only people I invite or approve” to keep the page clean and organized. Be sure to agree.

  9. Highlight and edit the “FrontPage” message to fit your group. Bookmark or tag the manual and training addresses.

  10. Create a page (information, calendar, etc.), upload files, and edit your settings.

  11. Highlight and edit the “Sidebar” to reflect frequently used files, websites, calendars, etc..

  12. You can enter “user” emails in the “settings” section… …and determine how much editing each person can do to the page. …and determine how much editing each person can do to the page.

  13. …or wait for them to ask permission the join via email.

  14. PBWiki also offers online tutorials to help you make the most of your page.

  15. You’re ready…Go! Have fun, be productive, and let your librarian know if you need any help. 
