Math Journal 2----- pages 120, 121, and 122 Home Link 6.5 Math Masters 177, 178, 313 and 328, 319 (optional) Minute Math pages 86 and 87 Base 10 Blocks (longs and cubes) slate ruler with centimeters pennies and other identical objects interlocking cubes (optional) paper clip and heavy paper or cardboard meterstick, yardstick Note: Any animation on slides is only visible in the slide show mode.

  5. Draw a line about 10 centimeters long on a piece of paper. Estimate how many pennies, lined up side by side would be needed to make a length of about 10 centimeters.

  6. Partner work: Use longs to find the approximate length of the longer side of your math journals.

  7. Now, use your longs to measure the length of a: pencil the width of a chair the length of a shoe Record two of the measurements in the table at the top of journal page 120.
