A Look at the March 2004 Digital Protractor TeV Roll Measurements • Reminder: 4 measurements per magnet done before any recent unrolling • Upstream Nominal (0deg) • Upstream Reverse (180deg) • Downstream Nominal (0deg) • Downstream Nominal (180deg) • 20 Magnets have one end hard to measure; 2 magnets both ends • Laptop DAQ questions magnet IDs • 18 magnets were noted to not match database • 6 magnet locations incorrect • Laptop program allows measurements to be retaken and for comments • 4 notations of rusted stands (amount of comments depend upon crew) • Not as smooth I expected for 2nd time around.
Basic check of data quality: Nominal versus Reverse orientation
Instrument going nuts? Crew not recognizing the extent of High Tilt
The four raw measurements show the systematic offsets of the two instruments Magenta lines indicate crazy measurements: 13US; 23DS; 39 Both ends 17 magnets where no measurement were taken
Comparison of the averaged Upstream and the averaged Downstream measurements for two sectors. For Fall03 data set, I was able to look through the data set and see which of the four measurements is bad and adjust to using three measurements. Not as obvious this time due to the systematic offset or inconsistent from end to end In some cases, it is obvious that the data taking order is flipped (reverse orientation followed by normal) which results in one end tilt being the wrong sign: which end? 16 magnets have >2mrad difference between ends; additional 57 >1mrad For now, take minimum end tilt for magnet
Comparison for Asectorafter Dec03 unrolling and before Mar04 unrolling Large Negative: Missing measurement Large Positive: Bad data for both ends
Comparison for Bsectorafter Dec03 unrolling and before Mar04 unrolling Large Negative: Missing measurement Large Positive: Bad data for both ends
Comparison for Csectorafter Dec03 unrolling and before Mar04 unrolling Large Negative: Missing measurement Large Positive: Bad data for both ends
Comparison for Dsectorafter Dec03 unrolling and before Mar04 unrolling Large Negative: Missing measurement Large Positive: Bad data for both ends
Comparison for Esectorafter Dec03 unrolling and before Mar04 unrolling Large Negative: Missing measurement Large Positive: Bad data for both ends
Comparison for Fsectorafter Dec03 unrolling and before Mar04 unrolling Large Negative: Missing measurement Large Positive: Bad data for both ends
What to do next? • Do we send crews in next possible access to measure correctly 39/75 magnets previously crazy measurements and/or 16/73 magnets with large differential tilts between ends? • Do I continue to try and massage data set? • Get DAQ program database correct. • Get DAQ program to recognize crazy tilts.
