BACKGROUND • Paul: The Apostle visited Galatia three times • Acts 13-14, First missionary journey • Acts 16:1-6, Second missionary journey • Acts 18:23, Third missionary journey
THE GOOD GALATIA • Paul experienced some good times in Galatia • Acts 13:42-43, Gentiles begged Paul to preach • Acts 13:48; 14:1, Jews and Gentiles received eternal life • Acts 14:8-10, Paul healed a crippled man • Acts 14:23, Paul appointed elders in every church • Acts 16:1-6, Paul met Timothy in Galatia • Acts 18:23, Paul strengthened Christians in Galatia
THE BAD GALATIA • Paul also experienced grief in Galatia • Acts 13:50, Paul was persecuted in Antioch in Pisidia • Acts 14:4-5, People in Iconium tried kill Paul • Acts 14: 11-12, People in Lystra tried to worship Paul • Acts 14:19, Paul was stoned in Derbe • Gal 1:6, Many Galatians turned away from Christ
SUFFERING FOR SALVATION • Paul taught the Galatians a powerful lesson • Acts 14:21-22, We must suffer for salvation • Luk 22:28-29, Christ prepared a kingdom for us • Rom 8:17, We will inherit the kingdom with Christ • 2Ti 2:11-12, We will reign with Christ in the kingdom • 2Ti 3:11, The Lord will deliver us from suffering
CONCLUSION • 2Ti 3:12, All who live godly will suffer persecution • During evangelism, in school, at work • Standing up for what is right, standing against error • Acts 14:21-22, Suffering brings salvation • Christ has prepared a kingdom for those who will suffer • Those who suffer will inherit this kingdom • Those who suffer will reign with Christ in this kingdom • In the mean time, God will deliver those who suffer
