Pen or pencil • Paper • Computer with internet access • (See next slide for computer settings) • Approximately an hour to complete the course
Microsoft™ Internet Explorer 5.5 browser (or higher) on standard Microsoft™ technologies, i.e., Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 98 • Javascript enabled • Pop-up blocker disabled • Intel Pentium III Processor • 256 MB RAM • Broadband Internet connection • Windows Media Player
Step 1: Go to Arizona Department of Health Services Extreme Weather and Public Health website: www.azdhs.gov/phs/oeh/heat/index.htm
Step 2: Locate link on left side of page: “School Toolkit”
Step 3: Click on link: “Recognizing, Preventing, and Treating Heat-Related Illness: A Web-Based CDC Training Course” (After clicking, you will be taken to the beginning of the course)
Take notes! This will help you during posttest! • Give yourself enough time to complete course and posttest! • Carefully read instructions and scenarios! • Don’t rush!
WHO CAN EARN CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS (CECs)? • Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) • Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES)-- Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc (NCHEC) • Continuing Education Units (CEU)through the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET)
After completing the course, a link will be provided to connect you with the CDC continuing education site • Click on the link • You will be asked to find the course and register for the course • Once you have registered, you will be directed to take the posttest to earn Continuing Education Credit • You must pass the posttest to receive your continuing education credit
