What’s the big idea? IN GROUPS: • Having read the article, what’s the big idea? • What are your questions? • What are your responses to the reading? • Collect your questions about the formative task on post-its and we’ll return to these later.
Drilling down… • Why are we asking you to read two of the reports in their original formats? • How are the two different reports discussed in terms of their content and language? • What questions does this raise for you?
What do I need to know?( Section 2 Faculty Guidelines) Find the answers to these questions: • What font should I write in? • What font size should I use? • What line spacing should I use? • What size margins should I use? • Can I present my work double sided? • Should pages be numbered? • Should I use subtitles in my formative assignment? • How do I present a paragraph?
For 18th April session • Re-read and annotate the article in the light of discussions today; what do you think the author is saying? • Continue to read and reflect on the two executive summaries and annotate those • Decide on your subject – it must be a current National Curriculum subject • Look for texts and journal articles that will help you read around the subject • Read, read and read some more – look at the suggested readings from subject tutors • DO NOT finish writing the whole thing
Task for April 18th • Focus on one subject as described in the assignment brief • Draft an outline plan of what you think needs to be included • Write one or two paragraphs that link theory and practice (i.e. what you have read with what you have seen in school). This may become one of your key themes e.g. • Maths should be……….because……. • Come prepared to share your writing with others in your group and to both give and receive constructive feedback
What were your questions? • What were your questions about the formative task? • Have they been answered? • Do you know where to go to find the answers? • PPT., formative task and article are all on LN.
