IP Camera Server / Storage Monitoring What is IP Monitoring? • Video monitoring system using the IP network ? An IP camera converts video images into IP form for transmission over standard networks including the Internet. Audio, alarms and camera control signals can all be carried as IP traffic over the same network, too.
What is an IP Camera? A network camera can be described as a camera and a computer combined. A network camera has its own IP address and built-in computing functions to handle network communication. Outgoing video, audio and alarm data is encoded (digitized), and incoming command data decoded, by the camera. It is connected directly to the network as any other network device and it has built-in software for a Web server, FTP server, FTP client and e-mail client. It also includes alarm input and relay output as well. More advanced network cameras can also be equipped with many other value-added functions such as motion detection and an analog video output.

The arrival of end to end digital IP based systems offers a fundamental advance in the development of event based recording techniques through intelligent analysis capabilities. However, the implementation of such solutions has been hampered by an inefficient workflow dictated by legacy system architecture. Mimicking age old human security organizations, these systems consolidate intelligence on the back end. This creates workflow bottlenecks that limit capabilities, drive up costs, and create systems that continue to press beyond the limits of human attention. Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture (DEPA) is a fundamental advance in system design DEPA divides up processing tasks by placing analysis capabilities in 1st generation network cameras matched with back end processing capabilities. This workflow innovation enables a new generation of systems that are inherently more efficient and effective and that better respect the boundaries of human attention. The arrival of DEPA marks a new stage in the development of security systems akin to the shift from centralised mainframe based corporate computing to today’s de centralised networked PC environment. The Pain Killers
Security System Design enhancing Human Intervention With intelligent video analysis, a system can be tuned to send an alert based on highly specific conditions appropriate to the individual cameras’ role within an installation. The system designer can create highly customised installations where each camera is set to deliver a range of alarms to signal when various events occur so that operators can respond appropriately. Fine tuned system with a high degree of filtering makes efficient use of the operator’s attention. They do not have to watch multiple screens simultaneously. Images that are selected and presented are looked at carefully. Intelligent video analysis that makes better use of operator attention produces greater accuracy in monitoring with faster response times. Enables greater number camera to be monitored by less operators Quick Search In recording mode From archival Benefits of IVS
Efficient Recording Improves Storage Capacity Management Shortcomings of “Back End Heavy” Consolidated Image Analysis Issues Inherent to Centralised, Back End Heavy Processing High Cost Limitations to Post Recording Search Benefits of IVS
Features of IVS • Advantages of IVS • Low ‘Total Cost of Ownership’ (TCO) • Video Analysis with Accuracy • Proper Real Time Frame Relay • Easy Analysis and Search of Archive • Compressed Storage • Centralized controlling & monitoring • Benefits of IVS • Alert Based and Human Attention Drawer • Uses same data network structure • Intelligent Quick Search • Efficient Low Cost Storage
