  1. El Futuro The Future Tense

  2. The future tense is used to talk about something happening in the future • It is used to tell what will happen or what shallhappen Example: I will go to the beach next month. I shall write the letter next week

  3. One way to use the future is to say you are going to do something using IR + A + INFINITIVE Este fin de semana vamos a acampar This weekend we’re going to go camping.

  4. This is usually referred to as the near future • Another way to refer to the future is to use the present tense with a time word Esta noche voy al cine Tonight I’m going to the movies

  5. For actions further in the future, we use the future tense The construction of this tense is fairly easy First you will need the infinitive of your verb and certain endings to conjugate regular verbs

  6. The endings are: -é -ás -á -emos -éis -án

  7. Example: yo hablaré tú hablarás él, ella, usted hablará nosotros hablaremos vosotros hablaréis ellos, ellas, ustedes hablarán

  8. Llegarán al campamento mañana • El año que viene iré a España • Conocerás bien el país después de tu visita. Note that –AR, -IR, -ER verbs all take the same endings

  9. Verbos Irregulares • You use the same endings with irregular verbs • BUT you will need to change the infinitive • Some of the infinitives will lose a letter • Some of the infinitives will change a letter • Some of them don’t follow a pattern
