Environmental Impact • It is our goal to have 50,000 households enrolled in paperless billing by December 2009. • 50,000 households paying their city water bill online will have the following 5-year impact: • 93,225 pounds of paper saved • 889,143 gallons of wastewater prevented from discharging into waterways • 119,475 gallons of gas saved by not mailing bills, statements, and payments • 5,310 household garbage bags not filled by waste from paper production • 3,709,947 pounds of greenhouse gases prevented* • *This amount of greenhouse gas is the equivalent of: • 3,654,088 miles driven in your car • 43,150 trees planted (and grown for 10 years) • 511,286 square feet of forestland preserved Environmental Impact
