  3. 6NEAT • 6NEAT ? • IPv6 NEtwork and Application Testbed • 6NEAT background • ASEM has underscored “intellectual exchanges between Asia and Europe”, in 1996 • Trans-Eurasia information between the two region • Lunched by ETRI, (2001-2002) • www.6neat.net • Goals • Establishing the IPv6-based advanced research network • Between Korea and Europe named Trans-Eurasia information network (TEIN). • This network will be a network infrastructure for Next Generation Internet between Korea and EU • Development and Evaluation of advanced IPv6-support applications and technologies • IPv6-based high-quality videoconferencing system • Mobile IPv6 system which follows the IETF Mobile IPv6 standard • IPv6-based advanced multicast technology

Application(1) • HVCT (High-quality Video Conferencing Tools) • HVCT (high-quality video conferencing tool) is a video and audio conferencing tool • Developed by ETRI and SNU • Feature • IPv6-enabled • HVCT will be works on Technical-Preview IPv6 stack based on Microsoft Windows2000 • Multicast/unicast support • We support two types of communication: n-to-n (multicast) and 1-to-1 (unicast). • High-quality audio/video (use MP3 codec and MPEG-4 codec) • Bandwidth-adjustable • Traffic monitoring • Simple messenger

Application(2) • Structure of HVCT system • The system consists of three parts; encoding manager, network manager, decoding manager. • The encoding manager: • Process the multimedia data from video camera and microphone and encode the raw data to MPEG4/MP3.The encoded multimedia data is integrated to one stream through the A/V MUX and then passed to network manager. • Network Manager: • put the encoded data in the RTP payload and then send them to the designated destinations. • The decoding manager: • Decodes the received data depends on the media type, i.e. audio, video.

Conclusion • The environment of experimental • IPv6/IPv4 configured tunneling or IPv6/IPv6 configured tunneling by using TEIN. • Native IPv6 network that is connected via ATM connection between ETRI and SNU. • The TEIN network Provides informational knowledge infrastructures based on next generation Internet and make a chance of Korea to be a hub of Asia.
