Introduction • It is really cold here • We are at the top and the bottom of the world • The Arctic is mostly ever frozen ice • The Antarctic is land and rock covered with snow and ice • The Antarctic can be a desert because not much rain or snow falls each year • The Arctic is owned by several countries

  3. Animals *Polar bears only live in the Arctic *Leopard seals eat penguins for food *White tigers are almost extinct *Penguins only live in the Antarctic *The blue whale is the biggest animal in the polar regions *Seals are carnivores so they only eat meat *Caribou hibernate in the winter

  4. Plants ~The few plants that grow here are short and hardy ~Arctic poppies are one of about 900 kinds of native flowers ~There are 500 kinds of mosses here ~There are also 2,ooo kinds of lichens ~There are no trees ~Algae lives in the water at both poles `

  5. Polar People gPeople live only in the Arctic gOnly scientists go to Antarctica gThe people who live in the Arctic are called Eskimos gThe people live in real houses in the Arctic gThe Indian tribe actually live in igloos gThe people eat seafood most of the time

Fun Facts • Six month days and six monthnights • Walruses use their tusks to pull themselves onto ice • Ice bergs can be blue, green , or white • Penguins hold their eggs on their feet • Eskimos can have pets • The midge is the largest land animal in Antarctica • The geographical poles move a little each year
