How to manage your time • Most students do not have a realistic understanding of how long it takes to do things. Keeping a record of how much time you spend on activities, such as getting dressed and doing homework will help you plan your time. PPT developed by Debra A. Wilson
Making a schedule • Students are advised to budget their time for all their activities, including leisure pastimes, such as reading for pleasure, watching tv, or talking on the phone. They must act responsibly and keep an eye on the clock. PPT developed by Debra A. Wilson
Long Term Planning • Students should use a monthly calendar on which to write everything – from school assignments, to extracurricular activities, to family obligations. You have to be responsible! • Seniors- Senior Project takes the entire term to complete.* PPT developed by Debra A. Wilson

My Weekly Schedule • Handout #3a- Note on this chart a schedule for the week. Add 5 mins to each estimate to be on the safe side. Your Monthly Calendars • Handouts #4a, #4b, #4c-Keeping a monthly calendar helps you make long range plans. The FamilyPlanning Calendar should be posted where everyone in your family can use it to record events. The Personal Planning Calendar should be posted where you can see it. Time Management Tips • Handout #5- 1)Estimate –figure out realistic time for how long things take you. 2)Schedule- Make a schedule that works for you and your family. 3)Use a calendar- Keep a monthly calendar so you can make long term plans. Include all academic, extracurricular, and family activities. 4)Review/Revise- Look over your schedule regularly (perhaps with a friend or teacher) and note the areas where you are successful and those areas you need to work on. 5) Time for you- Be sure to include leisure time activities (reading for pleasure, watching tv, listening to music, talking on the telephone) in your daily schedule.
