  4. 9th-12th Graders can research careers and identify their career interests

  5. The Keystone class (9th grade) will be using several of the career resources this year as part of the curriculum. Research careers by Category, Keyword, Alphabet. Do What You Are Personality Assessment Students can complete a 180 question interest inventory to match careers with their interests.

  6. Career Clusters for students to further explore careers within a category

  7. Add Career Clusters to your list of Career Interests Links to specific careers within the Career Cluster Subcategories of Careers within the Career Cluster

  8. Specific information about the career is available in each tab Add the specific career to your list Informational Videos about the career are available further down the page

  9. Goals and Tasks can be added by student. The Guidance Department will also add suggested tasks to this list. Access to lists of careers and colleges student has added to their lists Student can create a customized resume to include activities, honors and goals

  10. Students can use this page as a personalized task manager and calendar for both their high school and post-secondary tasks..

  11. 9th grade students in Keystone will develop a 4-year Course Plan with CGHS Guidance Counselors. 10th grade students can access they plan they developed last year in Keystone.

  14. If a student is developing their 4-year plan and they are considering attending C-9… Information accessed at www.central9.k12.in.us or click on CGHS guidance webpage for C9 tab. C9 Applications will be distributed in early November. C9 tour for interested Sophomores in November. C9 Open House for Prospective Students and Parents in November. Students attend a C9 program in the morning and have afternoon classes at CGHS (4 total).

  15. SENIORSCollege Applications and Transcripts What do I need to do on Family Connection to process my college applications?

  16. Select “Colleges” tab to add colleges, request transcripts and search scholarships.

  17. If you added colleges to this list during your Junior year, you will click on this link and move them to the “Colleges I’m Applying To” list. ****See Next Slide Seniors: Select colleges you have or will be applying to this year.

  18. Select the check box(es) for the school(s) you are applying to and click “Move to Application List”.

  19. If you have already applied to this college, check the “I have submitted my application” and “request transcript” boxes. (SAT and ACT scores are automatically placed on your transcript.) Select “Add Applications”

  20. This privacy notice needs to be completed regardless of whether you will apply via the Common Application. If you are using the Common Application, submit your CA Username and Password in the space provided.

  21. This list will include each of the colleges you plan to apply to this year. Add each school to your list by searching the database.

  22. Look up the college(s) you are applying to by using the “College Picker”. Check the box if you have already applied online using the college’s website. Select “Add Colleges”

  23. If you are still working on your application, you can come back later to change the status and request the transcript. Once you have completed your application for the college, you will need to request for a transcript to be sent from CGHS.

  24. Check the schools you have submitted an application for and for whom you would like to request a transcript. Select “Request Transcripts”.

  25. You will receive a confirmation that the transcripts have been requested and are “pending”. This status will change once CGHS sends your transcript electronically.

  26. To check your transcript status, select the “transcripts” link on the colleges page. Select “View status…”

  27. Date will appear once the college has downloaded your transcript. Status will change to a date once your Transcript and School Report Form are released by CGHS.

  28. Not everyone needs a teacher recommendation for their college application. Recommendations are needed if your college requires them or you are on the bubble regarding admission criteria for that particular college. A letter may also be needed if you are applying to a specific program or scholarship at the college/university. Teacher Recommendations

  29. Personally ask the teacher for the recommendation, then make the request in Family Connection Select “Colleges” tab to begin Teacher Recommendation Process Select “Add/Cancel Requests” under Teacher Recommendations Heading

  30. Use the personal note box to provide the teacher details about where you are applying. Find the Teacher from whom you would like to request a letter of recommendation Click Update Requests

  31. College Research Using Family Connection to learn more about your college options.

  32. Register to meet with the college reps visiting CGHS during STAR.

  33. Sign up for the college rep you would like to meet with on the specified date.

  34. If you are still searching for the right college, check out the college search link.

  35. If you already know the school you are searching for, just type the name of the school in the search box.

  36. A link is provided to access the college’s admissions website and pplication. Add the school to your “Colleges I’m thinking about” List. This can then be switched to the “Colleges I’m applying to” list. Important admission facts, financial aid, available majors and student life information links.

  37. Scattergrams allow you to view the GPA and SAT/ACT scores of those CGHS students who were admitted or denied at a particular college. Obviously, the names of the students are not listed. 

  38. Scholarships and Financial Aid How does Family Connection help me find scholarships and financial aid?

  39. The college resources page provides links to valid financial aid resources and websites. CGHS keeps a list of scholarships that we have been made aware of by local scholarship providers, as well as other state and national scholarship opportunities. Use this link to search for additional national scholarship opportunities

  40. Search scholarships by categories such as Health Careers, CG Scholarship Foundation, Johnson County Community Foundation, etc. Select the scholarship for more details including links to the application.
