Race (n.): A competition between runners, horses, etc. to see which is the fastest. (SYN.): competition * I won the race last year.
Disappear (V.): To become impossible to see or find. (SYN.): vanish (ANT.): appear *The Good Witch spun three times then disappeared.
Massive (adj.): Very big big huge massive (SYN.): huge (ANT.): tiny * I live in a massive house.
Proud(adj.): Feeling pleased , happy and satisfied about something that you own or have done. (ANT.): ashamed * They were very proud of their new house.
Festival (n.): A day or time when people celebrate something. (SYN.): carnival * I enjoyed playing games on the festival day at school
Cart(n.): A vehicle with wheels pulled by horses. * Cinderella went to the party with a magic cart
Set off: To begin a journey. * She set off at three o’clock in the morning.
Greeting (n.): The first words you say when you meet somebody or write to them. * I said “good morning” but she didn’t return the greeting.
Crowd (n.): A large number of people gathering together. * There was a big crowd waiting for the bus.
Snort (v.): To make rough noise by blowing air down the nose. * The old dog snorted when it smelled the food.
Stamp (v.): To put your foot down very heavily and noisily. * If you’re happy and you know stamp your feet.
Excitement(n.): To feel happy and excited specially because something interesting is happening. * There was a great excitement when they said the winners names.
Hooves (n.): Plural of Hoof: The hard part of the foot of horses and some other animals. * The horse’s hooves are very hard.
Toss (v.): To move your head up and down or from side to side. * I tried to apologize to her but she just tossed her head and walked away.
Tightly (adv.): To hold something very hard. (SYN.): firmly * My mother holds my hand tightly when we cross the roads.
Gallop (v.): To go at the fastest speed. (SYN.): sprint * She galloped her horse toward us.
Ahead (adv.): In front of (SYN.): before (ANT.): after * I could see the other car about half a mile ahead of us.

While reading questions: • Why was Shirav’s father proud? He was proud because Shirav was the fastest rider in the valley. • Do you think they will enjoy the festival? Why? I think they will because there will be games and horse races. • How did Shirav’s father encourage him? He encouraged him by telling him to do his best.
Who won the race last year? Shirav won the race last time. • How did Sukhe’s horse act ?What about the other horses? Sukhe’s horse snorted with excitement . The other horses stamped their hooves and tossed their heads. • What did Sukhe tell his horse? What did the horse do? “Run! Run! You are the strongest," said Sukhe. The horse leapt forwards.
Do you infer that Shirav wanted to win the race? What is your evidence? I infer that Shirav wanted to win the race my evidence is that his eyes were fixed on the finish flag. • Why is their father the proudest man in the world? He is the proudest man in the world because he has two winners today.
