  2. Chapter contents • Introduction (4%) • Measurement units (36%) • Calorific values (50%) • Recommendations (10%)

  3. A - Introduction • Original versus common units B - Measurement units • The International System of Units (SI) • Original units (mass, volume, energy) includes detailed discussion on energy units (Joule, Calorie, Btu, toe/tce, kWh…) • Commonunits C - Calorific values • Grossvs. net calorific values • Default vs. specific calorific values • Tables • Fuelwood and other biomass D - Recommendations

  4. Tables provided • Default net calorific values (NCV) for: - solid fossil fuels and derived products (Table 1) - natural gas and oil (Table 2) - biofuels and waste (Table 3) • Fuelwood - influence on moisture on NCV (Table 4) - volume/weight conversion table (Table 5) • Recommended units for dissemination (Table 6)

  5. Format of Table 1, 2 and 3 (calorific values for energy products)

  6. Fuelwood tables Table 3 Table 4

  7. Table 6 – Recommended units for dissemination

  8. Result of the WWC - summary Q.1: Do you overall agree with the contents of this chapter? Q.2: Do you overall agree with the recommendations provided in this chapter?

  9. WWC – comments received • 48 comments received • From the comments we have identified • 20 issues for which we need the opinion of the Expert Group; and • 11 straight-forward issues (editorial and other) for which the Expert Group is also invited to comment.
