  4. Important For 2016-17 • Fall forms night is Monday August 8th-4-6 pm- Physicals – help with Familyid registration. • In the main entry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! • Coaches meetings after school for each season at 3PM Fall coaches information will take place Monday June 11th

  5. Bow School District Athletics Mission Statement • 1.The mission of our athletic program is to blend in harmony the academic and athletic programs. We believe that athletics is an extension of the classroom. • 2. We will create an environment where individuals can reach their potential as people, students and athletes.

The athletic program will promote athletic endeavors which will instill in the athlete a sense of accomplishment, integrity, and good sportsmanship: and in the student body and in the town of Bow a feeling of pride and community.

  7. Bow School District’s Guidelines for Athletics • The Bow School District encourages students to participate in multiple sports. • The Bow School District will promote the opportunity to participate in sports for many students.

Guidelines For Athletics • The Bow School district will hire the best qualified coaching staff with a preference of utilizing teachers as coaches. • The Bow School District will develop an athletic program that is competitive while stressing the ethics of good sportsmanship. • Coaches of a varsity sport will oversee the entire program of that sport.

  11. Athletic Physicals • Athletic Physicals-Who Do They Go To!!! • NHIAA and Bow School District Requirement • Accepted dates-February 1,2016 or later • Green Form • Concord Hospital Residency Physicals • Convienient MD

Physicals • Student athletes must have a pre-participation physical, performed by a physician or a non-physician health practitioner under the direct supervision of a physician, after February 1st of their 8th grade year. A medical statement provided by that physician must be on file at Bow High School stating that the student is able to have full participation in interscholastic athletics.

Initial Health screen form. • 3.GREEN form must be on file in school for record or submit a phyicians athletic participation physical exam form • 4.YELLOW - Emergency information card • 5. We do have an activity user fee - $50 paid in office or $52 online – Hockey is $100 in office $102 online. Spring sport is free if you paid for fall and winter with that student.

  16. Fundraising • Many of our athletic teams will be conducting fundraisers. These fundraisers are to help with the cost of personal team sportswear that they like to have. Fundraisers could also buy equipment that the budget can not supply at the present time. No begging (tagging). Sportswear plans should be shared with parents at meet the coaches night.

NHIAA Eligibility Standards • Student athlete must be an enrolled student in the high school • They must have passed at least 4 classes in the quarter prior to participation • They cannot participate if they have turned 19 prior to September 1st of the school year • They can only participate for 8 consecutive semester after they enter high school

  20. BHS Eligibility Standards • Student/Athletes must pass at least 4 classes in the quarter prior to participation. Students should be taking at least 5 courses • The minimum passing grade at Bow High School is 70% • Student/Athletes must meet all of the standards set by the NHIAA

  21. NHIAA Non School Competition • A member of a school team is present for and participates in all team practices and competitions. Bona fide members of a school team are prevented from missing a practice or competition to compete with an out-of-school team. • When a conflict arises between the high school event and out-of-school event, the high school practice/game must be honored.

  22. Non-School competition rule • Penalties - Any student who violates this rule for the first time shall be declared ineligible for the next 4 consecutive interscholastic contests or 3 weeks, whichever is greater. • Any student who violates this rule for a second time will be declared ineligible for the balance of that sport season.

  23. Student Athlete and Fan conduct at athletic events • Students at Bow High School athletic events expected to show positive school spirit. • The following behaviors are inappropriate. • Taunting or ridiculing players • Improper language • At basketball games, yelling out during the taking of foul shots.

  24. Sportsmanship expectations

  25. NHIAA Sportsmanship • Student athletes who are disqualified from a game for any reason will be ineligible for the next game. • A student athlete who is disqualified from a second game will be ineligible for the remainder of the season. • Student athletes who make physical contact with a referee or official will be disqualified from all athletic contests for 365 days.

  26. Sportsmanship • Any spectator at any athletic contest who displays unsportsmanlike behavior will be asked to stop the unsportsmanlike behavior immediately. If the unsportsmanlike behavior continues, they will be told to leave school property. “Winning is for a day…Sportsmanship lasts for a lifetime”

  27. Attendance • Students who participate athletics are expected to be present at all practices and games. Work is not an excuse. • Student athletes who do not meet minimum attendance standards will be declared ineligible from participation. • A student must attend school, for the entire day, on the day of a game/practice in order to participate. Students must be time for school (not tardy).

  28. Attendance • Exceptions to this rule can be made in the case of a doctors appointment or college visitation.

  29. Citizenship • Students who participate in co-curricular activities must display good citizenship both in and out of school • Student athletes who do not demonstrate good citizenship can be declared ineligible from participating in athletics and other activities.
