  1. “What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” (Matt 16:26)

What is our Soul • We all have one (Gen 2:7, Matt 10:28) • It has immeasurable worth, beyond value, it is priceless (Matt 16:26, Mk 8:36) • We are commanded to love with it (Deut 6:5, Matt 22:37) • Soul lives forever (Matt 10:28, Rev 20:12-5) • Only God can redeem our souls (Jn 20:22, Ezek 37:9-10, Ps 62:1)

  3. Our Souls Need Protecting • Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (NIV) • Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life(NLT) • Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.(NSAB) Proverbs 4:23

  4. God’s wants us to protect them • He understands we need rest (Mark 6:31) • He understands we are sometimes more willing than able (Matt 26:41) • He understands we need the power of prayer (Phil 4:4-7)

  5. Our souls need saving “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away” (Isa 64:6)

  6. The safest place for any soul is in the hands of God • 1Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. 2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken… 5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. (Psalm 62)
