HLSC – SSP implementation in France SSP : « the Authority SMS » ICAO SSP implementation requirements since November 23rd 2006 DGAC high level interpretation: • The Regulatory authority acts on three controlling levers: • Rulemaking • Oversight • Safety Promotion • Aims at safety efficiency through: • Risk assessment • Risk reduction action plans • Safety performance indicators • Allocating staff and financial resources accordingly • SSP launched in DGAC through the Director General letter of commitment dated November 22nd 2007

HLSC – SSP implementation in France SSP challenges • New working methods: • Working on incident analysis, risk assessment, safety information, safety performance indicators… • Mutual and proactive exchange with industry on these matters • Identified difficult challenges on: • Safety performance indicators implementation • Setting efficient safety objectives at national level and for industry • Within the European scope: • A need for an EASP, including a European strategy, established in conjunction with national SSPs and adopted at high level • A need for a coordinated European action plan as well as for National action plans • Collaboration in order to progress on the SSP challenges
