Syphilis Symptoms • Primary Stage • Painless chancre at site where bacterium entered body • Secondary Stage • Chancre disappears, and generalized skin rash appears • Latent Stage • There may be no visible symptoms • Tertiary Stage • Heart failure, blindness, mental disturbance, and more; death may result.

28. Hepatitis B Virus • Pathogen: A viral infection • Where: affecting the liver • Acute or Chronic • Spread through unprotected vaginal, oral and anal sex • Spread through childbirth and sharing contaminated needles • Chance of getting it through kissing is very low
