  1. AUTO MATIC TOOL CHANGERS This is important part of CNC machine. Automatic tool changer from the magazine. Magazine stores the tool and replace the cutting tool from the spindle . Time of tool changing is just 3 to 7 seconds. ATC is playing an important role in reducing tool changing operation time .

  2. TYPES OF ATC Turret head type ATC It is generally used in CNC drill machine. 2. Drum type ATC In this 30 tools are stored along the circumference of drum. Tool finding speed of this type of ATC is fast.

  3. 3. Chain type ATC In this ATC more than 30-40 tools are store in it , having slow speed of tool finding . Double gripping system of tool changer .

  4. Equipment Automatic Tool Changer Can switch between up to 200 tools stored in a magazine, drum, or chain Tool Exchange Arm Picks up particular tools with attached toolholders

Tool ChangerTypes Automatic (Sequential) Spindle Turns one increment in one direction for each tool change; tools must be placed in the spindle in the order they are used Indexable (Random Access) Spindle Turns either direction to make a specific tool accessible; tools can be placed in any order as long as the computer knows their positions

  9. Classification of ATC (A) As per type of cutting tool : ATC for single tool ATC for multi tool heads ATC for special type of tool like micro- borers

  12. Characteristics Magazine should be capable of storing required nos. of tools to carryout all the operations on a machining centre. It should be compact and simple to reduce its cost and space requirement. It should not be protruding the working space of the machine for preventing it from disturbing tool space at the time of tool changing. It should allow manual transfer of tool easily and safely at the time of loading and unloading the tools.
