Adapt and Sustain Force Structure Commensurate with Total Force Requirements • Assess, validate, and project Total Force MSC requirement. • Identify MSC requirements by rank and projected skill set to support contingency operations • Review/validate leadership positions by rank for traditional MSC roles. • Identify number of Maj / Lt Col / Col potential positions in jointly staffed, line, coalition, international, NGB, AFRC (?), and other government agencies (HHS/HLD/IO/NGO/UN, etc…) • Adjust Career Pyramid to reflect 21st century MSC opportunities • Create formal National Guard (part-time) connections with Active Component (i.e. AE MSC and AC to NGB, Title 32 Planners)
Develop MSC officers for the challenges of the 21st century • Internalize a deliberate mentoring program to develop and broaden the MSC skill set. • Refine Recruitment Program to access applicants most likely to have long-term success within the Corps. • Promote retention to maintain the “Health of the Corps” to retain our most valued asset…our people. • Implement a functional residency for all core competencies. • Implement Compulsory Training Initiative requiring MSC officers to complete assignments in Logistics & Readiness prior to (fully qualified) • Re-engineer HSA to be more responsive to the dynamic health care industry • Develop new MSC skill set/capabilities to meet changing delivery environment • Re-evaluate certification opportunities to respond to evolving requirements • Evaluate and reengineer RSV Training to make it more relevant
Enhance Corps prominence through advancing the AFMS mission • Ensure 100% field grade officers are board certified. • Perform top-down HSA re-look addressing alignment, content and instructor duty • Bring visibility to Corps contributions by marketing our achievements. • Pursue more complex MDG/CC opportunities within our force development • Evaluate developing joint and Multi-Market opportunities for MSC officers • Engage and provide value in all key initiatives, working groups, boards, committees, and processes to enable progress and develop improved situational awareness. • MAJCOM SGA’s will offer MAJCOM MSC breakouts at major conferences at least once a year. • MTF SGA’s will organize at least one activity per quarter with MSC’s and 4AXs which foster Esprit de Corps.
