  1. AutoTuneTM

  2. AutoTuneTM customer benefits • Maximum power • Always a top performing machine with minimum effort. • Ease of use • No time spent on manually setting the carburettor.

  3. AutoTuneTM AutoTuneTM provide maximum power throughout automatic engine setting. No time spent on manual carburettor adjustment. AutoTuneTM compensates for different fuels, altitude, humidity and ambient temperature.

  4. AutoTuneTM • AutoTuneTM is an integrated microprocessor that governs and manages engine power. • AutoTuneTM compensates for: • + Different fuel types • + Altitude • + Humidity • + Ambient temperature • AutoTuneTM is activated when you • pull the starter handle. • AutoTuneTM is pre-programmed with default settings and need about 3-5 minutes in use to reach maximum engine power for the current conditions. • AutoTuneTM tunes the engine to start fast with stable idling and to perform at maximum power.

  5. AutoTuneTM • All software updates is communicated through the support site: • PC-software available for dealers • Diagnostic tool manages: • engine error codes, • number of working hours • engine rpm history • temperature history • fuel setting history

  6. AutoTuneTM , how does it work? • There are five active components in the AutoTune concept. AutoTune module: A microprocessor that governs and manages engine performance. Magnetic valve (integrated in the AutoTune module) The amount of fuel provided to the carburettor is adjusted by the magnetic valve. AutoTune module Throttle sensor Magnetic valve Temp sensor (integrated in the AutoTune module) Provides info to the AutoTune module about ambient temperature Temp sensor Throttle sensor: Provides info to the AutoTune module about throttle position. Ignition module: Controls ignition timing. Provides info to the AutoTune module about rpm. Provides electrical power to the AutoTune module. Ignitionmodule

  7. AutoTuneTM , how does it work? • There are three main modes with specific targets in the AutoTune concept. Starting mode Idling mode Tuning mode Target Target Target Quick and easy start Correct idling speed Maximum power

  8. AutoTuneTM , how does it work? Throttle sensor Ignition module Temp sensor Magnetic valve AutoTune module Condition: Start pull Condition: Throttle position idling Condition: WOT, 8000-12000 rpm Starting mode Idling mode Tuning mode

  9. AutoTuneTM , how does it work? Starting mode Idling mode Tuning mode ! 1 By pulling the starter handle, the AutoTunemodule is activated / powered. The AutoTune moduleinstructs the magneticvalvetoopen. 1 AutoTune module Magnetic valve

  10. AutoTuneTM , how does it work? Starting mode Idling mode Tuning mode Idle ! 1 The AutoTune instructs the ignitionmoduleaboutidling mode by the position of the throttle sensor. 1 Ignition module Ignitionmoduleadjustsignition timing for correctidling speed and instructs the AutoTune moduleaboutcurrent rpm. The AutoTunemodule adjusts fuelsupply. 2 ! 2 AutoTune module AutoTune module ! Magnetic valve Ignition module

  11. AutoTuneTM , how does it work? Starting mode Idling mode Tuning mode ! 1 The AutoTune moduleinstructs the magneticvalvetomomentarily limit the fuelsupply (minor lean out test). 1 Aftereachleanout test the AutoTune moduleuses the rpm info from the ignitionmodule. 2 2 ! rpm Depending on rpm response from lean out test (step 1 + 2), the AutoTune module instructs the magnetic valve to gradually adjust fuel setting to reach maximum power. This way the AutoTune module indirectly adjusts for fuel type, altitude, ambient temperature and humidity to reach maximum engine power. 12. AutoTuneTM Q & A • Q1. Compared to a traditional machine, what are the benefits with AutoTune? Ease of use and that the engine always performs at maximum power. • Q2. Can I just start up my new AutoTune chainsaw and start working or does it require some time to tune in? Automatic 3-5 min under load • Q3. Are there no possibilities for manual adjustments at all? No there is no need for manual setting • Q4. What about fuel consumption, is it higher or lower compared to a traditional machines? Same fuel consumption. • Q5. How fast does AutoTune adjust to different fuels? InAbout3-5 minutes under load. • Q7. What about idling – can I adjust that myself? No, this is automatically adjusted by AutoTune. • Q8. Will the AutoTune unit give recommendations on repair work that needs to be done? The diagnostic tool can show the technician which parts that needs to be exchanged in case of malfunction of the electronic parts. • Q9. Does my AutoTune chainsaw require specific service and maintenance? No, not more than what is mentioned in the OM. • Q10. Is it still an ordinary carburetor? Yes, but no carburettor needles. • Q11. Are there any restrictions on fuel ? No, there are no specific restrictions for AutoTune more than “normal” restrictions described in OM. • Q12. Is there any work situation where AutoTune is not recommended? No. • Q13. How often is a lean out test performed? Once / second. • Q14 Can I get more power out of my 550XP if I download AutoTune software for 560XP? No, the power is related to the engine size.
