Example of analysis: 30.05.2006 • Wind direction 300 degrees • Mode peak at ~7 nm • Wind speed determines flight time from coast line
Results • Wind directions between 260 and 340 degrees • Times between 2 h before and 4 h after low tide r2 = 0.52 r2 = 0.36
Results • HYSPLIT 96 hour back-trajectories and current wind direction measured on the ship for 26 June • Every marker corresponds to one hour • Travel time for the air mass from the coast roughly 5 h
Marine particle formation growth rates Average GR = 3.2 nm /h Additionally the following growth during evening/night from 22 -> 30 nm in Mace Head in 8 hours gives GR = 1 nm /h
