History of Snowboarding and Seth The idea of snowboarding was invented from a guy who liked to ski and snow board and he combined them together to make the snowboard. It took 30 years for the real snowboards to come out . In 1929, the idea of snowboarding came to be. Snowboarding was developed in the 1960 and became a Winter Olympic sport in 1998. AND NOW THE HISTORY OF SETH Seth grew up skiing and did not start snowboarding until the age of 10. Wescott’s hometown is Sugarloaf , Maine. Parents: Mom is Margret Wescott and Dad is Jim Wescott Seth started on a pro team from snowboarding at the young age of 24.
Equipment • Pants = Waterproof • Jacket= Waterproof • Gloves= Keep heat in and should be waterproof • Goggles= Make sure they have good venting and anti-fog treatment • Board= Most important part • Boots= Final part that connects the person to the board. • Helmet= Protects your head from falls or bad wipeouts • Bindings= Connects the boots to the board • Face mask= To keep your face warm
Fun Facts • Seth Wescott is the first person to ever win a gold in snowboard cross. • There are three Olympic games for snowboarding and they are… • Half Pipe= You do tricks on a half circle well in the air. • Snowboard Cross= a sport were 4-6 people do a obstacle corse to compete for gold silver and bronze • Down Hill= jump, beams and obstacles.

Rules….... Keep away from risky snowboarding stunts Stay out of the way of other snowboarders Don’t stop under a cat walk at the end of a jump The person in front always has the right of way and no matter how slow this person is going the person in the back has to slow down
