RESEARCH QUESTION • Is there a relationship of Emotional Intelligence(EI) level between male and female of third year biomedical science students?
HYPOTHESIS • Null hypothesis : There is no relationship on Emotional Intelligence (EI) level between male and female of third year biomedical science students. • Alternative hypothesis : the Emotional Intelligence level of male students is higher compared to female students.
CHI-SQUARE TEST • Case processing summary The case summary processing indicates that the data from 133 cases were included in these analyses.
From the table, the value of count of male students that have moderate Emotional Intelligence is 20 and the percentage within year is 80.0%. While, the value of count of female students is 5 and the percentage within year is 20.0%. • From the table, the value of count of male students that have high Emotional Intelligence is 86 and the percentage within year is 79.6%. While, the value of count of female students is 22 and the percentage within year is 20.3%.
The Pearson Chi-square is not statistically significant. This is because the Asymp. Sig. is 0.967 which is more than the α = 0.05. We can conclude that the gender of the third year biomedical science students is not related to the Emotional Intelligence level. We do not reject null hypothesis.
CONCLUSION • A Pearson’s chi-square test of contingencies (with α = 0.05) was used to evaluate whether gender of the students is related to the Emotional Intelligence level or not. The chi-square test was not statistically significant, p= 0.967. Gender of the students is not related to the Emotional Intelligence level.
