The Challenge: • Bring Memorial into compliance with Tricouncil Policy Statement on Integrity in Research and Scholarship (1994) • Design and implement a mandatory program for all graduate students • Make it happen on SGS budget (!)
GRIP defined: • Purpose • To provide an opportunity for graduate students to develop a personal framework for responsible research that fosters honesty and integrity • Goals • To understand the importance of integrity, identify and analyze integrity issues, and determine how to act responsibly
GRIP nuts & bolts: • Plenary Session • DOGS/VPR/ethics researcher • Self-Study Component • case studies - manual + Web CT • Disciplinary Workshop • Face-to-face peer session
GRIP topics: • Graduate student-faculty relationships • Sensitivity to human subjects • Sensitivity to animals and the environment • Ownership and acknowledgement • Data collection, storage and access
