Television • Played regularly at C.B.G.B in 1974, they explored the outer limits of guitar-band sonics, along with group and solo improvisation
The Ramones • Came out of C.B.G.B., creating a minimalistic driving style, simple short tunes in one fast tempo based on two or three rudimentary chords (a statement against progressive rock). • One of very few Punk groups which didn't burn out, but lasted into the 90's.
Other Punk Groups Coming out of C.B.G.B • Blondie: which lasted well into the 80's with lead singer Debbie Harry. • The Talking Heads: with their art-school weirdness and fractured rhythms.
Other Punk Goups Coming out of C.B.G.B. (cont.) • Patti Smith: whose 1975 album, "Horses", was the first to emerge from the C.B.G.B Punk cauldron. • The Heartbreakers: whose style exemplified the definitive Punk rhythm section and greatly influenced British Punk.
Punk/Reggae Musical Crossover • Blending rock and Jamaican styles, Bob Marley and the Wailers along with producer Lee Perry, released "Punky Reggae Party" in 1977 which wowed mutual affinities between Punk and Reggae.
The Continuing Punk Legacy • The Punk flame has continued to burn with groups like Fugazi, the Offspring, and especially Nirvana who broke into the mainstream popculture of the 90's with "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
