Goals of Work Group • Develop and maintain an implementation guide based on the ANSI ASC X12 Claim (837) standard for the purpose of creating a standard for reporting administrative data. • Provide guidance spanning a broad base of public health organizations related to the collection of administrative data using the 837 standard. • Identify future data needs to be supported in the Health Care Service Data: Reporting Guide

Past Year Activities • Updated the current October 2001 (4050) version of the Health Care Service: Data Reporting Guide to the October 2003 (5010) version of the ANSI ASC X12 Claim (837) standard
Past Year Activities • Highlights of the 5010 Version • Examples, situational notes, & requirements aligned with claim guides for common segments and data elements • Incremental support being added for pay-for-performance initiatives • Loop added to collect drug information reported using NDC codes (2410) • Capability of reporting dates and times for all reported procedures added • Support for reporting Do Not Resuscitate Indicator provided through collaboration with the NUBC to get a national UB code assigned for this purpose. • Front matter language changed to comply with newly developed X12 guidelines (TR3 Document) with the intent to make ANSI ASC X12 implementation guides more consistent and less ambiguous.
Past Year Activities • Time table for approval of the 5010 version of the HCSDRG as an ANSI ASC X12 approved standard • Informational Forum at June X12 Meeting in San Diego • Changes to guide to reflect comments during summer 2005 • 5010 Version of the HCSDRG balloted by ANSI ASC X12 Membership fall 2005
Plans for Upcoming Activities • Make necessary changes to the guide to satisfy balloted comments • Listserv postings • on issues related to the 5010 Version of the HCSDRG • Soliciting additional data needs to be supported in future versions • Enhancements to support Pay for Performance initiatives • Integration with additional clinical data needs
