  15. Set in the recently refurbished Sydney Cove Passenger Terminal, this new Restaurant called bambu, boasted a perfect location. Misho+Associates have transformed the double height space into an intimate hub targeted at the supper set. "The location was fantastic, but the space itself was not necessarily suited to a restaurant," says Misho. " The double height ceiling could have been quite intimidating, so we looked at ways of drawing the space back and creating warmth." The space had to be functional, as well as aesthetically engaging. With this in mind, Misho's initial concept revolved around a curved organic structure. Fortuitously, Misho was introduced to engineer turned sculptor, Horst Kiechle. Taking Misho's  initial concept and using Horst's state of the art computer program, the pair developed a form to hold the shape that thrilled them both. The sculptural panels were constructed by Horst with laminated cardboard. Safety and building methods developed by Misho+ Associates. The cardboard was sponsored by Visy. "We had to push boundaries and find new solutions. It's been a first for everyone involved and the entire process has been incredibly exciting" said Misho. The functional areas of the restaurant have strong graphic lines and forms to create a more grounded base for the fluid sculpture. In order to retain the view through the restaurant a new Mezzanine level was cantilevered on the southern side
