Pierwotna nazwa klubu brzmiała Fusball Club Internazionale Mediolano co oznaczało, że nowo powstała drużyna będzie otwarta zarówno na piłkarzy innych narodowości, tak jak i na Włochów. Jest to stadion miejski, więc na tym samym obiekcie rozgrywa swoje spotkania drugi mediolański klub - AC Milan. • Tradycyjny sektor kibiców Milanu to CurvaSud (Zakole Południowe), a kibiców Interu – CurvaNord (Zakole Północne). • Budowa stadionu została rozpoczęta w grudniu 1925 roku. Inauguracja nastąpiła 19 września 1926, kiedy to Inter wysoko pokonał Milan 6:3. Pierwotnie stadion nosił nazwę "San Siro" - od nazwy dzielnicy w której został wybudowany. Najbardziej znani są Boys San, którzy zostali założeni w 1969 roku - to jedna z najstarszych tego typu organizacji we Włoszech. Boys San uważani są za najważniejszą grupę na CurvaNord, czyli Północnym Zakolu stadionu San Siro. Na lewo od nich swoje miejsce mają fani grupy Viking, która powstała w 1984 roku i zasłynęła na jednym z meczów przygotowaniem największej flagi w historii klubu.

San boys are considered as the most important group in the Curva Nord, or North Curve, San Siro stadium.
